Revenge Weekend

In case you were hiking down into the Grand Canyon this weekend you might have missed the Suns exacting revenge on two teams that recently beat them. That's right, they took out the Kevin Garnett Timberwolves 116-104 and the Joe Johnson Hawks 115-106.

In Minnesota there was a whole lot of Shawn Marion with nice contributions from Amare Stoudemire, Leandro Barbosa and Steve Nash making sure people were moving the ball. Garnett tried his hardest to have a repeat performance but this time he couldn't do it, the Suns were just too much.

When the Suns offense is on point, they can beat anybody no matter how well the opposition is playing. I still don't fully agree with Shawn Marion guarding Garnett but whatever. I just feel like Shawn is too short for that assignment and KG can just shoot right over him like the last game we played.

Next up on the revenge tour was the Atlanta Hawks, who are playing perfectly, for a good Suns draft pick. Win a couple, lose a couple, and be just bad enough for the Suns to have good chance at the 4-6 pick but not so bad that they wind up with pick 1-3.

Amare proved why he was the number one option on this team in 04-05 again tonight against ex-teammate Joe Johnson who wanted to be the man somewhere else. Amare explodes for 43 16 and six while Joe has a good game, but not nearly as dominant as Amare's.

Amare looks like he's back to full strength. I didn't expect this at all. I figured he'd be back at all star form by the end of the year but he's the best big man in the game right now. It's damn impressive. I mean, Amare was a highlight reel yesterday. The guy can score in any which way. But also, he's passing out of the post extremely well too. He's way ahead of his time at this point.

The starters logged heavy minutes this weekend, and I think Coach Mike should ease off a bit. There are always times when he could use some of his bench a little longer. Still, I also agree that getting a couple minutes extra rest each night in the regular season isn't going to make any difference. What will keep the team from being fatigued during the playoffs is resting before playoff series'. They can't take every team they play in the playoffs to seven games and expect to be fresh. If they can take out teams in four or five games and get some rest, they will be good as new for the next team they play.

This will be extremely important when they have to face Dallas .
