* (SAS 3-2)

Not much to say. Close game, somewhat expected result. Great shot by Bowen. On to Game 6.

This game ate up the remaining space on my DVR and deleted the PHX/Dallas 2OT classic. Figures...
Tempting, but no, thanks

GO SUNS!
Love the asterisk by your title. Just goes to show that our Suns shine when the chips are down. Valiant effort by our guys and let's just go out and win in San Antonio tomorrow and bring this baby home!
I'm really impressed by the defense the Suns have put together in the last couple games. They're showing a lot of heart. This has to go 7.
Im really enjoying this series. Nash is a great player. Horry's foul was way over blown though and Amare should have kept his butt on the bench. Anyway good luck tonight cuz you are gonna need it.
Gahaha, love the asterisk, subtle little tidbit right there. I was going to do a recap for the game but... part way through the first paragraph I figured that I wouldn't be able to make it through more than 3 sentences without cursing, and I'm trying to keep some level of professionalism here. ;)
Hersey, the defense was *not* good enough. Those repeated three-point shots by Bowen, Finley and Ginobili probably wouldn't have happened if the Suns had defended the three-point line.
Some things have got to change next season, whether the Suns survive this series or not. I'm not a fan of Coach D'Antoni, because he (a)runs Steve Nash into the ground during the regular season, instead of letting Boris Diaw replace him regularly, and (b)ignores the bench so much that it was those players, expecially Eric Piatkowski and Jumaine Jones, made a mistake in signing here unless they don't mind not playing. There has to be a problem; if there weren't, Jim Jackson (last season) wouldn't have been ignored for no reason either.
And Amare Stoudemire has to become better, on defense or offense (yes--he failed to score as much in this series as he did against the Spurs in 2005, and his knees don't seem to be an excuse) or both. --Josh
Agreed anon @ 1:53. The double is so risky and the Spurs shooters are all excellent standstill shooters and help defense becomes helpless with one pass. The defense didn't win it but the effort was there which was impressive but they couldn't get anything on offense because they were gassed.
The tight rotation might have hurt them last night because nobody was ready to roll under the adversity or maybe they just didn't get the opportunity. D'Antoni trusted his well conditioned starters maybe a little too much.
I could speculate about the front office (post Colangelo) and the draft lottery next week and how to fix this team. Right now though, it comes down to a full strength squad and needing to win 1 game on Friday. What's been lost in all the blather about dirty play and suspensions is there has been some great basketball played.
The end of game 4 and the last few days really drained my enthusiasm for the NBA and I know I'm not alone from reading other sites and watching with friends last night. I hope this series goes 7 because of the matchup and no one wants the suspension game to have an inflated impact and hear a summer of trade Amare talk.
I find it kind of ironic that this website is calling the Spurs "thugs," when on the main letter head "The Rising Suns" is portrayed as graffiti on the wall. BRILLIANT. Way to think about that one.
As for the precious Suns, they knew that they probably wouldn't be able to get through the Spurs defense. What happens to a team that usually scores at least 110's every game, but is held to high 90's low 100's? They cry. They cry to the world saying that the refs and the NBA are unfair to the poor little suns. They cry that this is their last chance to make it to the finals and they have to play against someone who actually plays defense. Whats the best way to get someone to stop playing as hard of defense on you? Cry to the world to put a microscope on him and make him back off.
You can tell a huge difference between these two teams and how they carry themselves. One team has been there before, actually three times in the past eight years. The other has not. The Spurs know how to get there. The Suns are going about this all the wrong way.
1.They are begging for calls and begging to get noticed. Couldn't be anymore obvious about that one.
2.Calling out the Spurs in the beginning is not a smart move. Out of the last few championship teams, how many of them were crying about how too physical the other team was. I mean really, don't act as if this will be your first time. Oh wait it is.
3.I've played some basketball in my day. If you are up on a team with minimal seconds left and you have the ball, what is the other team going to do? I'm no Stoudewhiner, but I'm pretty sure they are going to foul you. If I'm the two-time MVP, never misses a free throw Steve Nash, why would I run between a rock (Horry) and a hard place (out of bounds line) as fast as I can. Then when he hits Horry he flails his arm out for everyone to see, even better than any Ginobili move. He wanted the world to notice. Too bad it back fired because he forgot how immature and trophy lacking(not the "me" trophy, but the "team" trophy, you know Dirk) his team was.
Don't worry the Spurs used to do it also, just about every time they would play the Jazz. Did they win championships then? Close, but no cigar.
As For you thinking that the NBA loves the Spurs. Name two teams that is the so-called "worse case scenario" championship match for the NBA. The spurs and the pistons. Why you ask, because they play this little forgotten thing called defense. As boring as it is, it wins championships. The league tries to make rules to get teams to stop playing as much defense and score more point. Aka the defensive 3 seconds and the painted arc of no defense. They are practically changing the game to get a team like the suns in there. The suns realized they don't have what it takes.
As for calling the Spurs "dirty." Man it was only earlier this season they were called "too soft". Heck the past 10 years they have been called soft good guys. So now that they have played the Powder-Puff Suns they are a dirty team. Wow what a difference 5 games makes to arguably one of the most professional sports franchises in the country. And just imagine if it were Bowen or Horry that would have gave Bell a black eye as Marion did Parker. The bomb threats would be too much to handle and to think the spurs are called dirty. Why didn't the Spurs cry about that call to the media after the game? Oh thats right they have been there before and knows what it's like.
Phoenix Suns and fans don't be hypocrites. Was last years Raja Bell's best WWE imitation forgotten already? Check with Kobe he still may have scars. Don't forget that when Parker was absolutely hacked in the paint in game 4, Kurt Thomas was keeping the culprit Suns player from helping him up from the ground. Oh wait why was that unprofessional act ignored, oh because the Suns are crying their way to the finals where they are going to meet another team just like the spurs called the pistons. What's funny is that the pistons are probably more physical than the spurs.
Welcome to the playoffs.
Anyways I'm out, and stop the crying because your plan for the NBA to keep the Spurs from playing defense has back-fired. Try again next year without the thumb in your mouth.
Sorry Ginobili you got the black eye, Parkers will probably be next games.
More like "Win or Cry all the way home"
SPURS in 6
Fans seem to wear reality filtering goggles when it comes to their teams' flaws and dirty plays. This series has showcased everything that is WRONG with the NBA.
It's funny how the fans say the players are whining when it's both of these teams fans who bitch and complain about their teams image. Both teams flop and flail like fish. Both teams have taken cheap shots. Both teams are trying to win a championship yet their players have turned into Rasheed Wallace.
Utah vs Chicago would shut everyone up and give us a real basketball matchup. No stars just execution and hustle.
Well I guess these comments have showed me something about Spurs fans.
When wronged in life, people in San Antonio don't get angry, they would just accept their fate, bend over, and take it in the ass.
Ow...Ra, that was so cold, it makes me feel sorry for the San Antonio Squirts fans.
^
And if Phoenix was in the same position, you wouldn't say a damn thing.
Therefore, remove the sand from your vagina and dry your tears.
You guys seem to be reaching the same level of pathetic-ness that the Mavericks acquired last season.
I don't care how many times it has to be said, until you start playing defense, Phoenix isn't going anywhere.
Goodbye Phoenix another overated season. No defense equals no Ring. Boot your coach, and do some trading. Run & Gun never wins Championships.
