"When we do get used to each other, we'll be the most dangerous team ever created." Shaquille O'Neal
The doubters, naysayers and Lakers fans will start chirping right away but the first game of the NASH/SHAQ campaign was intriguing. I had to watch this game Frankenstein style. I rocked a little ESPN360 until it died. I followed the gamecast play by play. Then I decided to watch the 2nd half at a sports bar. Sierra Nevada kept me loose as the Lakers broke our Shaq cherry with a loss.

Plenty of stuff caught my attention. The Lakers put 3 dudes 6'10" or bigger on the floor to start the game. They got a ton of layups off the pick n' roll and Kobe got hot early. Recipe for disaster normally but the Suns can still score at will by putting guys in perfect positions- basically give it to Steve Nash.
The lulls in playmaking were largely due to Boris Diaw. He was too busy partying and came to the game in cat mode. Hey Bo, when you look like a cat playing with a ball of yarn on defense- second units go on big runs... and take a big step in from the three point in the first quarter. Get warmed up before launching threes copain.

So I've been saying that Amare is the star and needed the training wheels taken off before he'd turn in a dominant player. With no Marion around, we have to see him do some dirty work and keep the energy to score at will. Tonight (37 pts, 15 reb, 3 blk) he showed the ability to do it but the pace and wanting to avoid foul trouble still led to a lot of easy baskets.
Fuck Pau Gasol. I hate you.

Getting no points from Raja hurts because his offense keeps Kobe honest. DJ Strawberry showed the ability to be in a Kobe highlight. He played him tight but when he's hot, get him to drive into the big guys and give up the ball. What do I know though- if had a solution for Kobe I'd be McCain's running mate.
Before anyone says anything about the 3-1 record against the Lakers- this is not the same team and neither are the Lakers. In fact the Suns are facing the leagues two best defensive teams in their next two games. We'll see the difference Shaq will make in the grinders. The Big Upgrade (15 pts, 9 reb, 2 blk, 3 ast) will make plays in the shootout games. Notice how he seemed to be everywhere in the fourth quarter.

There are plenty of plays to be made in a game that depends on execution. As accustomed as we've gotten to the Suns run n gun ways, the high shooting percentages are a result of picking the best opportunities to score. The opportunities will change now that Shaq is in the middle on both ends. This team will peak at the right time.
Mos def would have liked to have won this game but the Lakers are hot and the Suns have work to do. Should we face them again this postseason- it'll be fun. I'm pumped for Boston.

Hi. Shaq was good, but it wasn't him that wowed me, it was Amare Stoudemire. I agreed that going back to power forward would make him better, but I'm amazed at how fast it did. It proves further that trading Kurt Thomas, and letting Steven Hunter get away a few years ago, were horrible mistakes.
Actually, there's something I paid more attention to than O'Neal or Stoudemire. Is anyone asking why the Lakers won? It's not because of Kobe Bryant or Pau Gasol. It was because Raja Bell didn't show up offensively, and I'm really concerned about him. His defense is probably okay, but he was nonexistent offensively tonight. In 36 minutes, he had no field goals, no free throws made or attempted, not a damn thing. All his missed shots were threes. If he had managed seven points tonight, we'd have won. I hope he was so off only because Shaq accidentally pummeled him.
Best part of the game was watching a Lakers fan get stomped by three Suns fans in the concourse. What a bunch of mouthy pricks. Always so gratious in victory, they are. Eat a dick Lakers fans. Shaq looked a lot more comfortable in the second half. Boris Diaw is a bitch.
Boris Diaw has run out of time to be a good player. He needs to go.
Doubt they move Boris today. The aggravating thing is the lack of 'effort' plays from Boris. For every nice pass or nice move for a score- he'll blow a defensive assignment or give up a good shot for a bad one. The guy seems to lack a killer instinct. He's constantly quoted as saying he wants to make the right play. Sometimes you have to go at the other guy and try to bust him and bust him again when he changes up. Boris is too coachable and too guardable. Shaq and Amare have nastiness to their game. Boris needs to pick it up. He needs to watch some Anthony Mason game film.
What happened to this requirement for a thirteenth player? Shaq's been here for weeks and no benchwarmer has been signed.
If the Suns wanted another wing defender, I think Ruben Patterson is available. They'd probably never sign him, though, because he's too thuggish.
It'll be 10 day contracts until some vets get bought out. Brent Barry might be a target if Seattle buys him out.
Fuck the Suns. The Lakers will wrap them up in 5 in the playoffs if the PHX fags make it to the 2nd rd.
"And they will strike down upon thee with great vengence and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my team is the Lakers, when they lay their vengence upon thee"
HEYSUS said it!
Please censor this Los Angeles Fakers troller. And what is it with Fakers fans accusing the Suns and their fans of being gay? I've seen that happen thrice, twice on this blog. We have Jack Nicholson fighting with referees on one hand, and retarded non-celebrity Fakers calling us "fags" and "homos" on the other. This, friends, is what the NBA's traditionally second-most-successful team (after the Celtics) is all about. The Lakers must be humiliated, for the good of the human race. And the horse they rode in on.
The Lakers fans are convinced they're winning the title and they want to gloat about beating us in the regular season. The media is jumping on their bandwagon too. I like it personally. They're peaking now. Of course their star has a broken finger, their new addition has never won a single playoff game, their hurt starting center can't even run at this point and Kobe has never gotten a team out of the first round without Shaq. But they're the favorites, let it stay that way.
If the comments get too nasty, I'll delete them.
Its funny because what you guys say is the equivilent of trolling from anyone else's perspective.uo
It'd be trolling if we were on Lakers sites trying to annoy people. We welcome other fans, especially during the playoffs, just don't be nasty. Talk about basketball.
LAKERS FOR LIFE!
