Dragic to join Suns this season
Some breaking news on a Sunday afternoon. Suns second round pick Goran Dragic will join the team this season after reaching a buyout agreement with his Spanish team Tau Ceramica.
Dragic will be tossed into the fire as Nash's backup this season. Much like Robin Lopez getting to learn the ropes from former MVP Shaquille O'Neal, Dragic will learn how to run the team from 2-time MVP Nash. This team has an interesting dynamic. O'Neal, Nash, Amare Stoudemire, Grant Hill are veteran stars. Matt Barnes and Raja Bell will battle with the West's glamourous scorers. Leandro Barbosa and Boris Diaw need to prove their value after Mike D'Antoni's departure and a summer of trade rumors. Sophomores Alando Tucker and DJ Strawberry will have an opportunity to earn minutes. Rookies Lopez and Dragic will be counted on to play significant roles, especially with Nash and Shaq expected to sit games in preparation for the playoffs. Big man Louis Amundson might not be more than a practice player but he's a defensive energy big- which further adds to the attitude makeover of this team.
Overall, I think the summer has been pretty successful. The team is deeper and EVERY player the team drafted and signed is known for defense. Good job Steve Kerr. Can't wait for training camp.
